Karen M. Wilson, 77, of Hudson

Karen M. WilsonHudson – On Friday evening, May 19, 2023, Karen M. Wilson closed her eyes a final time while surrounded by the comforting love of her family. She recently celebrated her 77th birthday on May 11.

Karen was born in Malden and raised in Medford, one of six children to Robert and Marjorie (Hawes) Middleton. After her graduation from Medford High School in 1964, Karen relocated to Marlborough and worked as a baker in the Marlboro schools for several years prior to being employed within Avery Dennison Corporation’s auditing department. In later years she would assist with the accounting office of the Wayside Inn.

With a love of children, Karen left the corporate world and began working in the special needs department of the Maynard Public Schools. Karen found much satisfaction in her last position, as a secretary at Fowler Middle School. Here, she was able to connect with teachers, parents and most especially, the children; all of whom she would know by name.

Karen was full of adventure. While enjoying a motorcycle ride she would much rather be riding her own motorcycle. Karen owned several of her own and enjoyed travelling New England alongside her husband, Cliff. Together the couple enjoyed RVing, spending time at the family camp at Lake Shore Park on Lake Winnipesaukee and attending functions at Marlborough Fish and Game Club and the Italian Club of Marlborough, both of which they were longtime members.

Karen was an excellent cook and was always ready to share her culinary skills with her family. She tended to her flower beds and vegetable gardens and proudly incorporated her yield in the meals she lovingly prepared for her family. She had a loving and giving heart and a never-ending willingness to help others. Together with Cliff, they opened their home to those in need. Karen’s family will forever cherish her quick wit and sense of humor which she kept to the very end.

Surviving Karen is her devoted husband of 47 years, Clifford “Kip” Wilson; a daughter, Cindy Durand and her husband Michael of Naples, Florida; a son, John Wyckstrom and his wife Cristin of Hudson; two granddaughters, Heather MacKenzie and her husband Trevor and Rianne Wyckstrom. Karen is also survived by four siblings, Janice Hebert of Topsfield, Charles Middleton of Guilford, NH, James Middleton of Bridgewater and Wendy Smith of Moultonborough, NH, several nieces, and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Middleton.

Honoring Karen’s request, all services will be private. The Wilson family respectfully request in lieu of flowers that any memorial contributions be directed towards the United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston – www.ucpboston.org.
