Grafton – Rene L. Allain, 92, passed away peacefully July 25, 2023 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. His wife of 62 years, Jean (Gladd) Allain predeceased him in 2017.
Rene leaves four children; sons Michael Allain of Dudley, Richard Allain and his wife Celeste of S. Grafton, Ken Allain and his partner Dawn Dubois of Millbury, and daughter Sandy Allain of Worcester; five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, his sister Helena Allain and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Doris Wood.
Rene was born August 27, 1930 in Grafton, MA, son of the late Emilienne (Girouard) and Leo Allain and was a life-long resident in town. He graduated from Boys Trade High School in 1949 and began his career finding work at Draper and working at the Railroad at a young age. Eventually he joined General Motors in Framingham as an Assembler and worked there until his retirement.
While at work he assembled cars, closer to home if you knew Rene you probably found him building something at home or finding a way to fix anything that was broken.
He also spent summers as a die-hard Red Sox fan and was devoted to his South Grafton community and his beloved parish, St. James Church which was just around the corner from his home.
His family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate care he received from both the Jewish Hospice and Rose Monahan Hospice staff and also from his caregiver of the past 5 years who became like family and brought joy and laughter into his life, Linda Kane.
All are welcome to gather with Rene’s family and friends Sunday July 30th from 4pm to 7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday July 31st at 11am at St. James Church 89 Main St. S. Grafton, MA 01560. He will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
