Field grows in Marlborough City Council races

MARLBOROUGH – With less than a month to pull nomination papers for elected office in the city, it looks like there will be a race not only for mayor, but for City Council as well.

As of July 31, there are four candidates for mayor – current city councilors J. Christian Dumais and Samantha Perlman; Michael Baker; and Patrick Hogan. All have returned their papers and will be on the ballot.

The field for at-large city councilors has grown to six as Paul R. Ferro recently pulled papers. The other candidates are current council members Michael Ossing, Sean Navin, Kathleen Robey and Mark Oram, along with Scott King. Aside from Ferro, all have returned their papers and will be on the ballot.

There’s also another candidate in the Ward 6 councilor race, as Thomas Osborn has pulled papers. 

Here’s an updated look at the seats.

Ward 1 – currently held by Laura Wagner (not running for re-election). Mark Vital has returned his papers and will be on the ballot.

Ward 2 – currently held by David Doucette (returned papers). James Jumonville has returned papers and will be on the ballot.

Ward 3 – currently held by Dumais (running for mayor). Robert Preciado has returned papers and will be on the ballot.

Ward 4 – currently held by Teona C. Brown (returned papers). Quincy Mosby has yet to return his papers.

Ward 5 – currently held by John Irish (returned papers).

Ward 6 – currently held by Navin (running for at-large councilor). Michael T. Cabral has returned his papers; Albert T. Fuccillo has returned papers and will be on the ballot.

Ward 7 – currently held by Donald Landers Sr. (returned papers). Harmony Larson has returned papers; both will be on the ballot.

School Committee incumbents David Caruso, Heidi Matthews and Katherine Hennessy have returned nomination papers.

Assabet Valley School Committee incumbent Peggy Ayres has returned papers.

Nomination papers can be obtained until Friday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m. All nomination papers must be returned to the Office of the City Clerk/Board of Registrars for signature certification no later than Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m.
