Janice R. JohnsonNorthborough – Janice Rae (Tobey) Johnson, of Northborough, MA passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on February 3, 1938, in Middleborough, MA, to the late Robert and Victoria (Stanley) Tobey. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stewart Johnson, Jr.

Janice grew up in Wareham before moving to Braintree and eventually to Northborough.

She is survived by her two devoted sons, Tobey Johnson and his wife Celeste of Braintree, MA, and Kevin Johnson and his wife Sandra of Northborough, MA. She cherished her role as a grandmother and was deeply loved by her grandchildren: Brittany Zahn of Braintree, MA, Courtney Anderson of Hanover, MA, Matthew Johnson of Thornton, CO, and Alyssa Johnson of Northborough, MA. She was also the adoring great-grandmother of Jackson and Kendall Zahn of Braintree, MA.

Janice was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her talent as a floral designer brought beauty to many people and occasions, and her culinary skills were legendary, especially when it came to hosting family gatherings during holidays and other special occasions.

Janice shared a lifelong partnership with James Tomkinson of Northborough, Massachusetts. She leaves behind her sister, Roberta Glebus of Greensboro, NC, her nephew John Glebus and niece Vicki Hasselbacher and their families.

A private graveside service to celebrate Janice’s life will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Marion, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org.

Janice’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the many friends and caregivers who supported them during this difficult time. Your love and compassion have been a source of comfort.

The Chiampa Funeral Home of Shrewsbury assisted with arrangements.
