HUDSON – The Celebrate Hudson Committee has announced that their event has been canceled. Celebrate Hudson had been scheduled for Sept. 16.

The National Weather Service is expecting Hurricane Lee to impact the coast of New England late Friday and into Saturday. Specifically in Hudson, the NWS is forecasting a chance of rain on Saturday along with wind and gusts up to 39 miles per hour.

“The decision to cancel was made with the safety of our attendees, vendors, performers and volunteers in mind,” the committee wrote on Facebook. “We were very much looking forward to celebrating with you all and are deeply disappointed that we will not be able to come together for this event this year. However, your safety is our utmost priority and we believe this is the necessary court of action.”

The inaugural Celebrate Hudson event was held last year. Hudson Downtown Business Improvement District Administrator Richard Braga Jr. had told the Community Advocate prior to this announcement that the event would be bigger than last year’s celebration.

The event was slated to feature music, food trucks, a raffle, vendors, petting zoo and other children’s activities.

The committee thanked its sponsors, vendors, performers and the community for their support and understanding.

The committee said there isn’t an option to reschedule this year’s Celebrate Hudson. Next year’s event will be Sept. 14, 2024.

“We are already looking forward to celebrating with you all next year and will keep you updated with details as the date approaches,” the committee said. “Please continue to support the downtown businesses, vendors and organizations that were committed to this event.”
