Cheryl L. EmichMarlborough – Cheryl L. (Fish) Emich, 79, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Wednesday, September 27th 2023, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Cheryl was born in Battlecreek MI, the daughter of the late William Fish and Mary (Thompson) Sanford. She was a graduate of Battle Creek High School and moved to Massachusetts in 1964 settling in Marlborough in 1968 with her late husband Robert “Bob” Emich who passed in 2009 after 45 years of marriage.

Cheryl was most proud of her family and was not only a beloved wife and mother but also Nonnie to Courtney (Elms) Bucaro and spouse Alex, Kevin Elms and partner Debora Caldeira, Bryana Nickerson, Kaylie Emich, and Tyler Emich.  Additionally, she was great grandmother to Marshall and Evelyn Elms and Rowan Nickerson.

Cheryl started her working career at Berkes Remnant store and spent time working in the Marlborough School System as a secretary and librarian, and later working in a local bridal shop as well as a local party store called party works where she loved planning and helping the community.

As an active member of the community, she was a member of the Junior Woman’s Club, Marlborough Community Chorus, American Sewing Guild and spent time volunteering at many events large and small over the years.

She was perhaps best known talking about her customers as a talented seamstress who handled general alterations to large bridal parties and home décor and everything in between.  Additionally, she took great pride in teaching her sewing craft to the next generation and sewing charitably.

She cherished her neighborhood in which she made lifelong friends for the last 50 years.  From celebrating through annual cookie parties to birthday lunch/dinners, those friendships made her whole. Her ability to make a friend anywhere with a good conversation was her calling card.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club to fund their annual Princess Boutique which provides prom attire to those in need.
