MARLBOROUGH – Senator Ed Markey endorsed Marlborough mayoral candidate Samantha Perlman on Nov. 6.

In a press release, Markey said that Perlman would lead Marlborough to a brighter future.

“Samantha Perlman is dedicated to Marlborough,” Markey said. “She has proven herself an effective leader on the City Council, and combines strong community engagement with a forward-looking vision for the city’s future focused on education, environmental sustainability, and transparency. I am proud to endorse her for Mayor.”

Perlman has served the past four years as an at-large member of the City Council. She is a member of the Finance Committee, chairs the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee and is the vice chair of the Veterans Committee.

“I admire Sen. Markey’s longstanding commitment to public service and environmental leadership,” Perlman said. “I thank him for his recognition of my experience, education and vision to improve the quality of life for Marlborough residents, something I have dedicated myself to every day since being elected four years ago.”

The press release by her campaign touted that Perlman was the top vote recipient in both of her City Council elections as well as the preliminary election for mayor. The campaign noted some of Perlman’s goals, including revisiting the master plan and hiring a city planner.

“Marlborough is a very desirable destination for businesses of all types and sizes. We are in this enviable position because city officials before us had the vision to make it happen,” Perlman said. “I will continue to implement that vision, incorporating thoughtful and strategic planning to put the decision-making back in the hands of our community.”
