Audrey M. XavierMarlborough – Audrey M. (Henderson) Xavier, 92, of Marlborough and formerly a long time resident of Southborough, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Louis Xavier, Jr. who died in 1973.

Born in Lynn, Audrey was the daughter of the late David and Dorothy (Dexter) Henderson and was a 1950 graduate of the former Peters High School in Southborough, where she was a cheerleader, a member on the basketball team, Dance Committee, art editor of the year book and voted most likable. After graduation she went to Washington DC with her friend, Ruthie, to work as a secretary. There she met and married her first husband, Franklin Baugh, with whom she had two children.

In 1960 she moved back to Southborough with her two children and worked at International Paper, where she met her second husband, Louis. In 1968 they moved to New Canaan, CT where she had her third child, Lynn.  In 1969 she moved back to her beloved Southborough, where she was a stay at home mom, until Lynn entered the public school.

Audrey was a bank teller at Shawmut Bank in Southborough, a job she really loved, until she retired at 65. After retirement she felt a need to keep busy, and started working at the Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury as the overseer of the weddings. After a while she found out that there was an opening at Southborough Medical, with her best pal, Dee Patterson and began working there, until she was asked to retire at the age of 88.

Audrey was a vivacious, amazing woman with a big heart and an open door to all in need.  She enjoyed traveling to Bermuda, NYC, Disney with her children, also to  California to visit Kevin and Maine to visit her sister and the beach. Audrey was an avid reader of mysteries, enjoyed dancing, creating art, interior redesigning of her home and anyone else’s who may have wanted her expertise. She also enjoyed burning up the credit card shopping, eating banana splits for dinner, laughing with friends and hosting a gathering.  However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Audrey was a long time active member of St Mark’s Church of Southborough.

She is survived by her 3 children, Kevin Baugh of Marlborough; Karen White and her husband, Ahmed of Marlborough; Lynn Richards and her husband, Jeff of Holden; 3 grandchildren, Cassidy White and her partner, Harrison Roody, Brian White and his wife, Aida and Grayer Richards; her great granddaughter, Isabel Audrey White; her sister, Carole Lounsbury and her husband, Archie of Maine; their son, Chris; her sisters in law, Virginia Ferro and her husband, Joseph; Francine Xavier; their children, Elizabeth, Christina, Susan, Joseph Ferro and Matthew Xavier; her cousins, Dorothy Kosiba and John Henderson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15,  at 10:30 am at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main Street, Southborough. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 14, from 5 to 7 pm at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough.
