Richard P. WardMarlborough – Richard “Dick” P. Ward 87 of Marlborough died on Friday, December 8, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Dick was born in Dorchester, MA, the son of the late John J. and Pauline J. (Leary) Ward. Dick was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Jacqueline T (Turcotte) Ward in 2015.

He served in the US Marine Corps from 1953 – 1957 during the Korean War. Dick was self-employed working as an Auto Appraiser for many years.

He is survived by his children, Patti Ward of Northborough, Rick Ward of Bradford, Lynn DiMatteo and her husband Richard of Marlborough and Jay Ward and his wife Mary of Marlborough, 5 grandchildren, Alicia Ward, Travis Ward and his wife Julie, Gino DiMatteo, Shannon Ward and Erin Ward, a great grandson, TJ.

Dick was predeceased by his brother John Ward.

Following his service in the Marines, Dick worked as an orderly at Bournewood hospital, where he met the love of his life, Jackie. Dick and Jackie were married for 57 years and together raised 4 children on Pheasant Hill Rd. It was here where they established a community of everlasting family and friendships. Jackie and Dick took turns hosting “sick calls” where great memories were formed, song sung and stories shared. Some of Dick’s favorite hobbies included hunting, golfing, playing cribbage, spending quality time with his family, and listening to Doris Day, Patsy Cline, and Frank Sinatra.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 4-6 pm in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc, Worcester, MA.

Following cremation, burial with military honors, will be private at a later date.
