Hudson – Mary E. Lally, 90, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on December 11, 2023. She was born on November 16, 1933, in Medford, MA, to the late Alice (Hamall) and Leo Carpenter, Sr.
Mary attended St. Columbkille High School in Brighton, MA. Mary dedicated her entire life to being a mom, nana, and great-nana. She welcomed all to “The Table”, where there were endless laughs, and conversations. She loved working around her home, doing yardwork, and planting flowers. Mary and her husband, Gerald Sr., loved each other dearly. They spent many years on Cape Cod where they had a home. Her kindness, love, and feistiness will forever be missed.
Mary is survived by her children Joanne Provencher of Montana, Gerry Lally, Jr., and his wife Anne of Hudson, MA, Nancy Parker and her husband Barry of Hudson, MA, Darlene Peterson and her husband Ken of Texas, Diane Dettling and her late husband Joe of Clinton, MA, Mary Lally-Smith and her husband Gerry of Boylston, MA, and Debbie Jacobs and her husband Stephen of Plymouth; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and her brothers Leo Carpenter, Jr., and Francis Carpenter. She is predeceased by her husband, Gerry Sr.; her daughter Donna Lally; and her sisters Connie O’Brien, Carol Lento, and Marjorie Porter.
Calling hours for Mary will be held on Saturday December 16, 2023, from 9am-11am, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 16, 2023, at 11:30am, at Saint Michael Parish, 23 Manning Street, Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery, 278 Cox Street in Hudson, MA.
