Marlborough – Paul “Pesky” T. Podlesney, 74, of Marlborough died Tuesday January 9, 2024, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a brief illness surrounded by his loved ones. He was the husband of Vallapa V. (Vachiravatchara) Podlesney for the past 50 years.
Paul was born in Hudson, raised in Marlborough, and was the son of the late Henry and Eleanor (Tripp) Podlesney. He was a 1966 graduate of Marlborough High (Vocational).
Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran having served in Texas, Turkey and Thailand and was honorably discharged in 1971 with the rank of sergeant.
He began a career with the City of Marlborough Department of Public Works in 1993 which continued until his retirement in 2014. Paul loved hunting, fishing and camping. He will be remembered as a quiet man that always made sure everyone was taken care of. Paul always looked out for his family and loved them dearly.
Besides his wife Vallapa, he leaves two sons, Scott J. Podlesney and his wife Divonne of West Boylston and Lance K. Podlesney and his wife Diane of New Hartford, Conn; three sisters, Jill Gill of Northborough, Karen Giardina and her husband Kenny of Marlborough and Robin Monteiro and her husband Joe of Marlborough; six grandchildren, Kaila, Sean, Brennan, Justice, Hunter and Christian; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Sunday January 21 from 2-4 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. United States Air Force honors will be rendered at 4 PM Sunday. All are invited to sign Paul’s online guestbook at www.collinsfuneral.com.
