Westford – George G. Greene, 85, of Westford, MA, passed on Saturday, February 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Janice C. (Lutz) Greene, of Hudson, MA.
George was born on January 25, 1939, to his late parents Albert Greene and Faustina (Gates) Greene in Middletown Springs, VT. In 1959, George enlisted in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged upon completion of his service.
George leaves behind his wife Janice (Lutz) Greene; his sons Philip of Brunswick, GA, and Rodney and his wife Kate of Westford, MA; and his grandchildren Emmett, Clara and Jeffrey. George is predeceased by his parents Albert and Faustina Greene.
George was a resident of Hudson, MA, for three years. Prior to living in Hudson, he lived in St. Simons Island, GA, for twenty-five years, as well as Framingham, MA, and Southborough, MA.
George worked for thirty-six years in the banking industry, holding positions at The Shawmut Bank. He was a Methodist, and a dedicated parishioner at The Plymouth Church in Framingham, MA. In his free time, George loved golfing, and was a member of two golf clubs in St. Simons Island, GA. He and Janice attended several Masters Golf Tournaments. A very fond memory was his golfing trip to Ireland. In addition to his love for golf, George also enjoyed skiing, hunting, gardening, and bowling in his younger years. He also had a red Porsche 911 Carrera that he was proud to own.
Calling hours for George will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 4pm-7pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held following Calling Hours on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 7pm at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home.
