Marilyn ButlerPlymouth – Marilyn Boucher Butler, age 85, died on February 29th, 2024 at the Newfield House in Plymouth after a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband John Butler of Plymouth.

Born in Middleboro, MA, Marilyn was the eldest child of the late Thomas F. and Martha M. (Klocker) Boucher. She is survived by her sisters Helen Burton and Anne (Richard) Cline both of Plymouth, and brother Thomas Boucher of Uxbridge, MA. She also leaves behind three stepchildren and seven nephews and nieces.

She graduated from Middleboro High School in 1956, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Saint Mary College (NH) and a Master’s Degree from Washington State University. During her career she held several positions in college administration, culminating in the role of Associate Dean of Students at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester which she held for over twenty-five years until retirement.

Marilyn moved to Pinehills in Plymouth in 2005, previously residing for many years in Shrewsbury, MA. She loved travel, reading, sailing on Narragansett Bay, exploring Plymouth history, watching football, tracing her ancestry, visits to Cape Cod, and weekly participation in the Catholic church in Plymouth. She was a “woman of action,” whether through her brisk daily walks, organizing a family barbecue or trip, or her active involvement in the Winslowe’s View Library and Social Committees.

A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the CARTMELL-DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 373 Court Street, Plymouth, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Peter Church, 86 Court Street Plymouth, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to the Residents of Newfield House Scholarship Fund at Newfield House, 19 Newfield Street, Plymouth, MA 02360.
