Hudson – Alfred Pauplis, 93, of Hudson, MA died on March 9, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Ingrid (Schroeder) Pauplis.

Al was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Michael and Filomena (Olsausrus) Pauplis.   He attended local schools and was a 1949 graduate of Hudson High School.  While in high school, he was a member of the National Guard and worked at the Fairbanks store in Wood Square, Hudson.

Al received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University in 1954. He also attended Worcester Polytechnical Institute Graduate School majoring in Construction Management. After graduating from Northeastern, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Al worked for Engineering firms in the Boston area, retiring after 35 years with the Parsons Corporation. His work assignments included international travel in the Americas and the Middle East as well as Africa. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering and St. Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Crowley and her husband Paul Crowley of Windham, New Hampshire, his son Wayne Pauplis of Cumberland, Rhode Island, his grandsons Jack and Matthew Crowley of New Hampshire, his two sisters Genia of Walnut Creek, California and Diane of Hudson and sisters-in-law Jeannette Pauplis and Mary Pauplis and several nephews.   He was predeceased by his brothers Leonard, John, William and Michael and sisters Joan and Phyllis.

Al was a family man, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family. He especially loved watching his grandsons play sports. He enjoyed cooking and was a master on the grill. He will be dearly missed.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Al’s life by gathering for his calling hours on Thursday, March 14, 2024  from 4 – 7 PM at the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA, followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson for Committal Services with military honors.
