Two men were arrested following an alleged road rage incident on Route 495.

MARLBOROUGH – Two men are in custody following an altercation with a weapon in the breakdown lane of Route 495 south in Bolton on Monday, March 25.

A tractor-trailer driver suffered serious injuries from an alleged road rage incident, according to a State Police press release.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was reportedly assaulted by two adult males who were occupants of a Volkswagen GTI hatchback. During that assault, the tractor-trailer operator, a 28-year-old man from Maine, was struck with a hammer. He was transported to Leominster Hospital, where he remains at this time.

The two assailants fled the scene in their vehicle before police arrived. State Police issued a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) alert for the vehicle and the suspects, whose descriptions troopers had obtained.

A short time later, the suspects were observed in Marlborough, and Marlborough officers stopped their vehicle and detained the occupants. Troopers responded to the location of the stop and took the two men into custody. A third occupant of the vehicle, a female, was not charged.

The suspects were identified as Javier Gutierrez, 23, and Juan E. Marin, both of Dracut. They were arraigned in Clinton District Court on Tuesday, March 26; each was charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a single count of disorderly conduct.

One of the male suspects was treated at Marlborough Hospital for injuries sustained in the altercation.
