MARLBOROUGH – Veterans Service Officer Mike Hennessy and Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant recently presented Marlborough resident Lydia Whitcomb with two Medals of Liberty.

In accordance with MGL Ch. 33, Section 67A, The Medal of Liberty is awarded to the next of kin of service men and women from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who are killed in action or who die in a designated combat area.
Lydia received two Medals of Liberty, one for her late husband, Private First Class Francis J. Thomas, and one for her late brother, Private Francis N. Brazeau. Lydia mentioned in her remarks that she had five brothers who were all in the service.
Horribles Parade to return
Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant is excited to announce the return of the popular Horribles Parade on Thursday, Oct. 28.
Kiddos all dressed up for Halloween are invited to trick-or-treat at businesses along Main Street from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Juniper Farms Ice Cream will also be there serving up some delicious cold treats.
At 5:30 p.m., after trick-or-treating, the Marlborough High School Marching Band will be joined by members of the Middle School Band to lead the Horribles Parade of costumed youngsters down Main Street, beginning at the old fire station.
Travel Club plans ‘Christmas in the White Mountains’ trip
“Christmas in the White Mountains” sounds like a Hallmark holiday movie, but it’s actually an opportunity for individuals to experience it through the St. Ann Travel Club. The trip is scheduled for Dec. 8, 9 and 10.
The group is headed to North Conway, New Hampshire, where guests will stay at the White Mountain Hotel & Resort.
Travel is roundtrip by coach, leaving from Marlborough. The trip includes deluxe accommodations, five meals, three entertainment shows, a visit from Santa with a gift for you and much more.

Veterans enjoy WooSox game

A small group of veterans from Marlborough recently attended a Worcester Red Sox game. A big thank you to Joe Bradlee from the Worcester Red Sox, who invited the veterans and donated the tickets.
The night was very special for veteran Scott Moody. Moody, a Vietnam veteran, was honored on field before the fifth inning. Thank you to Veterans’ Services Officer Mike Hennessy for organizing this great event for local vets. MRCC, Rotary Club plan recycling event
The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce joins with the Marlborough Rotary Club for a recycling event on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Navin Rink Parking Lot at 451 Bolton St. in Marlborough.
The cost per car/truck load is $40. One and all from anywhere in New England are encouraged to clean out their attics, basements and businesses.

Junior Woman’s Club continued 9/11 anniversary tradition
Members of the GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club gathered on September 11, 2021 to deliver thank you boxes to the Police and Fire First Responders in Marlborough and Hudson. This tradition began in 2002 and has been continued by the local service organization for the last 19 years.
