MARLBOROUGH – Kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year is under way.

Registration is for children who reside in Marlborough who turn 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2023. The district encourages families to register their child for kindergarten by June 30 to receive notifications from their child’s school about upcoming kindergarten events.

The Registration & Parent Outreach Center (RPOC) will now be processing registrations for kindergarten, along with students in grades 1-12, according to Jody O’Brien, assistant superintendent of Student Services & Equity.

“Previously, there was a stipend position for an MPS staff member to manage and process these registrations and collect the required documents. This person would only be available to families after school hours and at locations other than RPOC, leading to confusion for families. The approved additional part-time clerical support will help support existing staff with these additional registrations and provide a centralized location with regular hours during the day for families to access,” said O’Brien.

Families can go to the Kindergarten Registration page on the district’s website, https://ma02212715.schoolwires.net/Page/1422, for more information and to complete the online registration form. RPOC will reach out to families to finish the registration and collect the required documents.

There are currently already more than 65 online registrations for kindergarten.

The district will be hosting a hands-on registration workshop for all families on March 2 at RPOC, which is located at Whitcomb School from 6 to 8 p.m. Computers will be available, and assistance provided for any families needing help completing the online registration.

Parents should bring a copy of their child’s original birth certificate; proof of legal guardianship; and three proofs of residency.

Required documents will be collected from families who bring them, and RPOC will follow up with any families who do not fully complete the registration.

Details on required documents may be found on the district’s website.

Spanish and Portuguese translators will be on hand.
