Over 110 dancers from Central Mass. will perform in the festive production that officially kicks off the 2015 holiday season, Nov. 27, 28 and 29.
“The Nutcracker Ballet at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts is a high-caliber performance in a world-class theatre featuring ballet professionals and rising ballet stars from the Worcester area,” said Jennifer Agbay, director, Ballet Arts Worcester, “and we’d like to thank Commerce Bank and Price Chopper Supermarket, for their generous sponsorships.”
Acknowledged as one of the most popular ballets of all time, “The Nutcracker” tells the story of a young girl named Clara, who receives a nutcracker doll as a Christmas gift and her magical journey with the doll who comes to life.
The 2015 Nutcracker dance corps includes four professional guest artists from the Festival Ballet Providence and the Dance Theatre of Harlem and over 110 Worcester-area dancers ranging in age from 7 to 21, including several members of the Youth Ballet of Worcester Company. The role of “Clara” will be performed by 12-year-old Bella Lanzarini from Shrewsbury.
The dancers completed a 12-week rehearsal schedule.
“The Nutcracker staff of BAW provides the young dancers with an experience that is very close to working in a real-life dance company,” Agbay said.
