Grafton – Ideal spring weather May 14 contributed to another successful Grafton History Day held at Grafton Common. Co-sponsored by the Grafton Historical Society and the Grafton Garden Club, the annual five-hour event celebrates the town’s 1735 incorporation.
Festivities included plant and pastry sales, displays of farming tools of bygone years, Civil War reenactments, rededication of tercentenary marker, Nantucket-style basket demonstrations and pony rides. Musical entertainment at the gazebo featured vocalists Tom Casey, Carole Bundy and Bill Zolli, keyboardist and vocalist Bobby Gadoury, and guitarist Roy Hegedus. Grafton Public Library displayed a story walk around the common.
Book signings were offered for “Grafton,” authored by Linda Marean Casey, who serves as director of the Grafton Historical Society Museum. The pictorial book is part of the Images of America series released by Arcadia Publishing and the History Press. A larger portion of the royalties benefit the historical society when ordered directly through the organization. For ordering information, call 508-839-0000 or visit graftonhistoricalsociety.org.
