Marlborough – When the sixth annual Metrowest Festival of Trees was held Dec. 13, 14 and 15, it returned for the second year at the 47,500-square-foot Royal Plaza Trade Center. In addition to wreaths, nearly 100 decorated trees from two- to 7-1/2 feet were sponsored by businesses, organizations and community leaders. Many guests purchased raffle tickets for a chance to win their favorite entries.

Marlborough ??" Holiday spirits were up – even as the rain was coming down – Dec. 6 at Union Common as the city held its annual Home for the Holidays celebration. Residents braved the miserably wet weather for the chance to enjoy some hometown holiday cheer. Participants were greeted with free balloons at the Common's gates. Mayor Arthur Vigeant lit the town tree as the Marlborough High School Mixed Chorus, directed by Shannon Phypers, performed holiday classics under their umbrellas.

New tax rate brings increase for homeowners

Marlborough-large-web-icon1Marlborough - The City Council approved the new real estate property tax rates for 2014 as presented by Mayor Arthur Vigeant and the Board of Assessors at its Dec. 2 meeting. A public hearing preceded the vote that sets the tax rate at $16.11 for residential homeowners and $28.22 for commercial and industrial property.

Councilors extend inter-municipal water agreement with Hudson

Mayor Arthur Vigeant requested the emergency connection to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) water supply system and returned to the council Dec. 2 to request a year's extension to the agreement.
