Sr. Alma Richard, SSCh.Marlborough – Sr. Alma Richard, SSCh. (Sr. Aime), died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Marie Esther Health Center in Marlborough.

Born in Rumford, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Richard and Elizabeth (Arsenault) Richard Gaudet, and entered the Sisters of St. Chretienne in 1932.

Sr. Alma earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Catholic Teacher's College in Providence, R.I. in 1954, and served her congregation as a teacher in Salem, Amesbury, Castle Hill, Rumford, Maine, and Rhode Island, before retiring to Marlborough.

She is survived by her brother, Arthur Gaudet of Gardner, and her niece, Shirley Martin of Templeton. She was also the sister of the late Emilia Roache, Marguerite Gaudet, Helen Theriault, and Edmond Gaudet.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 30, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Retirement Residence of the Sisters of St. Chretienne, 197 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 31, at 10 a.m., at the chapel of the retirement residence. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beach Street in Marlborough. The Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough is assisting with arrangements.
