Richard S. Millett, 65

Hudson – Richard S. Millett, 65, a lifelong resident of Hudson, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Marlborough Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Polly Alden of Hudson.

He was born in Framingham and raised in Hudson, where he attended local schools and was a 1965 graduate of Hudson High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he attended Quinsigamond College in Worcester where he received his Associate’s Degree.

Richard was a Program Manager for Digital Equipment Corp. and later Compaq for many years until his retirement.

Richard and his wife Polly looked forward to their spring trips to Martha’s Vineyard, surf casting along with other outdoor activities. They also loved spending time at their summer cottage in Fitzwilliam, N.H., lake fishing. Richard took pride in his creative gourmet cooking, often preparing special meals for both family and friends. He loved spending his spare time gardening and was a member of the V.F.W. in Hudson.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, Charles E. and Mary V. (Sims) Millett of Hudson; his two sons, Ryan Millett and his wife, Marcela, of Lake Worth, FL, and Michael Millett and his partner, Justina Johnson, of Lancaster; and his four sisters, Karen Hellen of Marlborough, Barb Millett of Hudson, Christine Marcotte of Hudson, and Mary Frias of Clinton. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Liliana and Logan Millett, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles W. Millett of Southborough.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Sunday, July 29, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, followed by a celebration of Richard’s life at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard may be made to The Trustees of Reservations/Chappaquiddick Properties, 572 Essex St., Beverly, MA 01915.
