Hudson – Freda Marie (Kemp) Smith, 87, of Hudson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Freda was born Dec. 24, 1924 in London, England. She served her country in World War II as a firefighter.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Smith, 93, of Hudson. They immigrated to America with their children in 1960. They resided in Watertown for six years and later moved to Hudson.
Freda lived a long, happy life and enjoyed playing bingo, ballroom dancing, and spending time with her family. She could make anyone laugh with her feisty attitude and sense of humor.
Along with her husband Leonard, Freda is survived by her son, Michael Smith and his wife Theresa Smith of Worcester, MA; her daughter, Geraldine (Smith) Simons and her husband Stephen A. Simons of Westford, MA; her son, William E. Smith and his wife Teri Smith of Leominster, MA and her sister in-law, Ivy Todd of London, England. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Simons and her wife Vivian Berrios of Nashua, NH, Stephen L. Simons and his partner Jennifer McManus of Westford, MA, Lisa M. Simons and her partner Kevin Kearns of Westford, MA, Ethan Smith, Devon Smith, Ryan Smith, Bryan Smith, Andrew Smith, Daniel Smith and great-grandson Stephen W. Simons.
Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, followed by a service and celebration of Freda's life at 8:00 p.m. Burial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
