Obit John E. TracyMarlborough – John E. Tracy, 96, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, 2014 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (Clifford) Tracy.

He was born in Boston, the son of the late Martin and Anne (Harrington) Tracy, and lived in Marlborough for 55 years.

Mr. Tracy was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII, achieving the rank of chief yeoman, and was a longtime member of the Disabled Americans Veterans chapter 82 of Marlborough. After the war, he went on to work as a regional field officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency for 35 years. After his retirement, he was a longtime member of the National Federal Retirees Association.

He is survived by two sons, Jack Tracy and his wife Stacey Richards of Boston and William Tracy and his wife Liza of Dedham; one daughter, Lynne Tracey Cooke and her husband Robert of Ashburnham; and two grandchildren, Corinne and Cailey Cooke. He was predeceased by one son, Wayne; three brothers, Bernard, Thomas, and George Tracy; and one sister, Madeline Davis.

His funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, Hemenway Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough, will be held Sunday, Aug. 24, from 2-5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
