Obit Dwinal C. ForbesHudson – Dwinal C. Forbes, 83, of Hudson, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He is survived by Joan (Hinds) Forbes, his beloved wife of 63 years.

Dwinal, or “Dick,” was born in Rumford, Maine to the late Harold Forbes and Ethel (Cheney) Forbes, also of Maine. He grew up in Wyandotte, Mich., but had many fond memories of summers at his grandparents’ farm in Bowdoinham, Maine.

At 20, he joined the U.S. Army and married his loving wife after meeting her at a USO dance. They then took a 20-year journey with tours in Germany, Texas, Panama, Maryland, and Japan, including the birth of five sons along the way. Dwinal ended his service with tours in Korea and Vietnam before settling in Hudson in 1972. He completed his work life in auto sales and security.

Dwinal loved the beach, taking day trips with his many grandchildren, and being surrounded by his family. But, mostly he loved being with Joan.

Dwinal is survived by his wife, Joan, and his five sons and their families, William T. Forbes of Hudson, Robert and Vivien Forbes of Westminster, Michael and Crystal Forbes of Strafford, N.H., David and Anne Forbes of Tega Cay, S.C., and James and Phyllis Forbes of Burlington, Vt. He has 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Miriam Jones of Wyandotte, Mich. and Herbert Littlefield of Bowdoinham, Maine.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Tuesday, April 19, from 6-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St. Hudson (www.tighehamilton.com). A funeral service and celebration of Dwinal’s life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial services with military honors will be held at Glenwood Cemetery of Maynard.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dwinal may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
