Jean M. Quirion, 77, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Jean M. Quirion found peace and life’s eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Qu’il repose en paix (may he rest in peace).

He leaves his wife of 39 years, Sheila Quirion; his children, Michael P. Quirion of Shrewsbury and Jeannine M. Nolle and her husband Jon of Thompson, Conn.; his step-children, Kenneth St. Pierre of Worcester and Michele McDonald and her husband Jim of Auburn; his former daughter in-law, Wendy Quirion of Shrewsbury; and his siblings, Roger, Paulin, Clemente and Michel Quirion, all of Quebec, Canada, Ghislane Giroux of Colebrook, N.H., Andreanne Banville, Louisette Arquin, Pauline Bell, Francine Savaria, Brigitte Quirion, all in Quebec, Canada. He leaves his grandchildren, Joseph and Joshua Nolle, Amanda Cariglia, Michelina Armenti, Nathan St. Pierre, Jacqueline and Parker Quirion, and his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Caty, Chloe, James and Carter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline (Dowd), and his siblings, Marcel and Claude Quirion.

Born in Saint-Herménégilde,Quebec, Canada on July 3, 1939, he was one of 13 children of the late Adrien and Alice (Begin) Quirion. Jean was raised and educated in Quebec.

As a young man, he cut and logged trees for powerline routes from Canada to Vermont along with his four brothers. He moved to the United States in 1959, settling in Worcester.

For over 30 years, Jean owned and operated JMQ Painting and enjoyed his retirement which began in 2004. Retirement included trips with Sheila home to his native Canada three or four times a year. They also travelled to Maine and other parts of the country as well as fun day trips to a local casino.

His funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 5 at Saint Anne’s Church of Shrewsbury, followed by burial at Saint John’s Cemetery of Worcester.
