State marijuana policy committee to hold hearing in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – On Monday, April 10, the Committee on Marijuana Policy, chaired by State Rep. Mark J. Cusack (D-Braintree) and State Sen. Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville), will hold a public hearing to discuss an “act the regulation and taxation of Marijuana Act,” [Chapter 334 of the Acts of 2016]. This hearing will allow the committee to receive testimony from local officials, municipalities, advocates, and the public in relation to this law. The hearing will be an overview/oversight into the potential implementation, improvements, changes or non-changes to the law as it is written today.

The hearing is scheduled for April 10 at Shrewsbury High School, 64 Holden St., Shrewsbury, and will begin at 4 p.m. State Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) of the Eleventh Worcester District, which includes Shrewsbury and Westborough precincts 4 and 5, is the Ranking Minority Member on the Committee on Marijuana Policy.

State and/or local officials along with municipalities who wish to testify will be heard first by the Committee. Public testimony will then follow via sign-up the day of the hearing. Written testimony will also be accepted by the committee.
