Maria S. Ryan, 55, of HudsonHudson – Maria S. (Frias) Ryan, 55, of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her beloved husband of over 18 years, Richard F. Ryan.

Maria was born in Chicago, Ill. on April 25, 1962, the daughter of Joseph and Joanne (Sclafani) Frias. Maria moved with her family to Hudson shortly after birth, where she was raised, graduated from high school and lived until the day she passed away. Maria was also a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Parish in Hudson. On April 24, 1999, Maria married the love of her life, Richard F. Ryan.

Maria enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens and capturing her precious memories and insights in her many journals that she kept throughout the years. She loved dancing and traveling, especially her trips to Aruba and Santa Maria, Azores. Most of all, Maria loved spending time with her family; she adored her many nieces and nephews and she never missed a birthday, holiday, anniversary, or event. Maria was a loving and caring person and she will be forever missed by those that knew her.

In addition to her husband, Richard, and parents, Joseph and Joanne, Maria is also survived by her five siblings, Rosie Haufe and her husband Rick, Joseph Frias Jr. and his wife Georgeana, Isabel Frias, Richard Frias and his wife Zelia, and Paul Frias and his wife Tina, all of Hudson. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Nicolas and Douglas Gontijo, Paul Jr. and Nathan Frias, Joseph, Matthew, and Rachel Frias, Maddie and Katie Haufe, Maia, Julian, Donovan, William and Vincent Frias, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Thursday, Sept. 21, from 4-7 p.m., at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m., at St. Michael’s Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, followed by interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Maria’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
