George W. Moroney Jr., 79Westborough – George W. Moroney Jr., 79, of Westborough and Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., died Saturday June 18, 2011, at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital in Worcester. He was the husband of Phyllis F. (Dame) Moroney.

Born in Milford, the son of the late George and HelenGeorge W. Moroney Jr., 79 (Dwinnell) Moroney, he was educated in Westborough, graduating from Westborough High School, and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Moroney was a self -employed builder owning Phylmor Corp. He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Ft. Myers Beach and a former member of the John Boyle O”Reilly Council #85, Knights of Columbus in Westborough. He was also a former member of the National Builders Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, George W. Moroney III, Cynthia A. Cole and husband Stephen, and Christine A. Klimavich and husband Doug, all of Westborough; six grandchildren, Jaimeson, Jeffrey and Aislyn Cole and Christopher, Michael and David Klimavich; one brother, James Moroney of Millbury; and two sisters, Eileen Whitmore of Florida and Betty Bier of Michigan. He was the brother of the late Francis Moroney and Catherine Stockwell.

Mr. Moroney's funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday June 21, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery.
