Hudson – John P. Maillet Jr., 47, a John P. Maillet Jr., 47lifelong resident of Hudson, died at his residence Saturday June 18, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous two-year courageous with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Maria T. (Thurber) Maillet of Hudson.

Born in Boston, the son of John P. Maillet Sr. and Nancy L. (Jacobs) Maillet of Hudson, he was raised in Hudson where he attended local schools and graduated from Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, class of 1982. He later attended Central New England College in Worcester, where he received his Associate's Degree. He was employed as a Mechanical Designer for the past 10-plus years by the Waters Corporation in Milford. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.

Besides his wife and parents, He is survived by his two sons, Nathan and Cam Maillet of Hudson; his sister, Robin McNiff and her husband Michael of Hudson; and his two brothers, Glenn Maillet and his girlfriend Diane Welch of Marlborough and Alan Maillet of Hudson. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Ed Thurber III and Yvonne Thurber of Marlborough; his two sisters-in-law, Andi Thurber of Boylston and Aimee Geehreng and her husband Justin of Long Island, N.Y.; his brother-in-law, Ed Thurber IV and his wife Kate of Sturbridge; and his many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and good friends.

Mr. Maillet will always be remembered for his love of all the Boston sports teams, his unique talent as a handyman, always willing to help family and friends with their challenging projects, and his love of the outdoors, especially hiking. He enjoyed golfing with his many friends and looked forward to the many events he shared with his family, especially the weekly Tuesday evening gathering for dinner at his parent's home in Hudson, which he cherished so deeply.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday June 23, at 10 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Calling hours will be held Wednesday June 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St., Hudson.
