Northborough Community Gardens grand opening announcedNorthborough – Northborough Recreation has announced that the grand opening of the Northborough Community Gardens will be held Saturday Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to come join in celebrating what will be the first of many years of residents growing and eating healthy delicious foods.

The gardens opened this spring and 10 lucky residents/groups were chosen by lottery to receive use of the garden beds. The 6 feet by 12 feet beds were built by Eagle Scout Mike Strickland of Troop 1 in conjunction with a MetroWest Community Foundation grant. Next spring, the Recreation Department looks forward to adding 10 more beds currently under construction by Eagle Scout candidate Michael Ryan of Troop 101.

The Community Gardens are located on a piece of property owned by the Parks and Recreation Commission at 70 Valentine Rd. Come see the beautiful space and the wonderful things local gardeners have been growing.
