NORTHBOROUGH – Three people, including a juvenile, were taken into custody after a high-speed chase on Monday, April 22.

The juvenile, a 15-year-old from Lawrence, will be charged with failure to stop for police; speeding; leaving the scene of property damage; a breakdown lane violation; a marked lane violation; receiving a stolen motor vehicle; and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

One of the passengers, first identified as Ibrahim Hasbum of Methuen, was later identified by police as Kayan Perez, 20, of Fitchburg. In addition to charges of providing a false name to police, he will be charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle; and an outstanding warrant.

A spokesman for the State Police said that Beverly Police plan to seek charges against Perez for larceny of a motor vehicle (two counts); receiving a stolen motor vehicle; and receiving stolen property (credit card) for crimes he committed on April 17 and April 21 in that city.

The other passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Danvers, will be summonsed for receiving a stole motor vehicle.

The three were in a 2002 Lexus IS that had been stolen out of Peabody. A State Police helicopter located and followed the vehicle, which had been eluding police in several MetroWest towns.

The stolen vehicle was observed by the helicopter traveling west on Route 9 through Southborough and Westborough and onto Route 495 northbound. State Police cruisers began responding to that area.

After traveling on routes 290, 117 and 495, pursued by State Police, the stolen vehicle entered Route 290 west in Marlborough.

Troopers set up stop sticks on 290 west between Solomon Pond R0ad in Marlborough and Green Street in Northborough. The stolen vehicle struck the stop sticks and crashed into another vehicle and came to rest in the median strip. There were no injuries to the occupants of the other vehicle.

The car hit several other vehicles during the incident and appeared to be missing a tire, according to WCVB-TV. The driver of the vehicle lost control in Northborough, sending the car skidding off Interstate 290 and into the median, colliding with trees and shrubbery.

Subsequent investigation determined that the stolen vehicle was involved in a prior crash with two other vehicles on the ramp from Route 495 south to Route 290 west in Marlborough.
