Shrewsbury – Virginia R. (Hesselton) Ross, 78, of Julio Drive, died Saturday July 30, 2011, in Rose Monahan Hospice Home of Worcester. Her husband, Robert F. Ross, died in 2002.
She leaves a son, Robert F. Ross and his wife Lisa of Wilmington, N.C.; three daughters, Carolann Boyle and her husband George of Hudson and Valerie E. Pantazis and Shirley J. Ross, both of Worcester; a brother, Donald E. Hesselton and his wife Mary of Athol; a sister-in-law, Lois R. (Ross) Gaudette of Newtown Square, Penn.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. A brother, Wayne E. Hesselton, and a sister, Janice E. Emery, predeceased her.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of W. Donald and Doris E. (Beauregard) Hesselton.
Mrs. Ross worked for many years for Putnam Card and Gift Shop and previously worked as a secretary for Peoples Bank in Worcester. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as the lady in purple. She was a longtime member of the Christadelphian Church of Worcester.
The funeral service will be held Friday Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., in Howard C. Allen Funeral Home, 653 Main St., Shrewsbury, with burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday Aug. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the funeral home.
