Grafton – Philip E. Meany, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday Aug. 3, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ruth (McNamara) Meany.

Born in Leominster, the son of the late Edward and Rose (Lawless) Meany, he was educated in Leominster and was a graduate of Leominster High School and a 1940 graduated from Worcester Poly Technical Institute.

Mr. Meany was Vice President of Cincinnati Milacron in Worcester, retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Philip Church in Grafton and had been a resident of Grafton for over 60 years.

He is survived by one son, Philip E. Meany Jr. and his wife Heidi of Arlington, Va.; two daughters, Kate M. Carey and her husband Richard of Rutland, Vt. and Beth M. Salsman and her husband Kenneth of Westborough; nine grandchildren, Kirsten Zimmerman, Roisin McElroy, R. Patrick Carey, Meghan Carey, Kenneth Salsman, Jonathan Salsman, Sarah Salsman, Julianne Meany, Philip E. Meany III; and nine great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ann M. Caldwell, father-in-law of the late David Caldwell and brother of the late John L. Meany.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday Aug. 9, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery of Grafton. There are no calling hours.
