Bruce D. Linnell, 62Boylston – Bruce D. Linnell, 62, formerly of Marlborough and Hollis, Maine, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at UMass/Memorial Healthcare Center, Worcester from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Theresa (Schavone) Linnell of Boylston, and two daughters, Sarah and Lorah, Linnell, both of Boylston. He also leaves his mother, Ester Linnell of Bradenton, Fla.; four sisters, Karen Linnell and husband John Hepfner of Maine, Kit Linnell of Maine, Kris Anderson and husband Kurt of Illinois, and Heather Bois of Maine; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Born in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late Herbert R. Linnell and Ester (Emmanuel) Linnell, he graduated from Falmouth High School and Framingham State College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Vietnam War.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Linnell was the director of the Veterans Outreach Program -Metrowest. He was a member of the VFW Post 638 and the ITAM Club Post 45, both of Marlborough; VietnemVeterans of America (VVA) Chapter 0841; and many other veterans groups.

He participated in numerous local drum circles and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who took part in many charity rides.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 9a.m., at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough, followed by burial at the Massachusetts VA National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m.

The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Veterans Outreach Program – Metrowest, 255 Main St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
