Shrewsbury – Filomena M. “Choppy” (Mastrogiovanni) Flynn, 70, a resident of Shrewsbury for over 50 years, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus after being stricken ill at home.

She leaves her loving husband and friend of 49 years, Vincent P. Flynn; her devoted children, Christine M. Davolio and her husband Frank of Shrewsbury, Maureen A. Massad and her husband Paul of Boylston, Thomas J. Flynn and his wife Tara of Hubbardston, William P. Flynn of Westborough, and David M. Flynn of Shrewsbury; seven beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole, Samantha, Brody, Kaden, Ashley and Joey; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Mastrogiovanni.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Albert and Sophie (Graves) Mastrogiovanni. Her parents moved their family to Shrewsbury in the early 1950s. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Worcester. Prior to her marriage to Vincent in 1962, she had worked for the Paul Revere Insurance Company in Worcester for several years.

Family was the most important and precious thing to Mrs. Flynn's. To have her husband, children and grandchildren surrounding her in her daily life made her extremely happy.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Flynn family Monday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22, from the funeral home with her funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
