Hudson – Mary Jo (Medeiros) Chaves, 67, died at her residence Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jose F. Chaves of Hudson.
Born in St. Michael, the Azores in Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose Caetano and Ana V. (da Silva) Medeiros. She had resided in Hudson for the past 40 years after moving from St. Michael.
Mrs. Chaves was employed as an inspector for Data General Corp. in Westborough for many years and later was employed by A.C.T. Co. of Hudson until her retirement.
She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson and a member of the Holy Ghost Society of St. Michael, the Azores.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Anna (Chaves) McDonald and her husband Sean of Newton, and her siblings, Jose Medeiros of Portugal, R. Antonio Medeiros of New Bedford, Eduarda Pereira of Canada, Fernando and Luis Medeiros, both of Portugal, Hermano Medeiros of New Bedford, and Estrela Borges of Hudson. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Elle, Tess and Lila McDonald, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Conceicao Medeiros.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 12, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery of Hudson. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 11, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., Hudson.
