Southborough – Robert B. Willoughby, 83, formerly of Martha's Vineyard, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He was the husband of Carmella (Cellucci) Willoughby for the past 63 years.

Born and raised on Martha's Vineyard, he was a World War II Army veteran. After his tour of duty, he left Martha's Vineyard to find work. He worked as a painter for the former Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for 22 years.

Mr. Willoughby was an avid fisherman and would often be found on Memorial Wharf in Edgartown teaching people the skills of fishing and how to be a good warden of the sea. He is one of the longest participants of the annual Martha's Vineyard Striped bass and Bluefish Derby. He also enjoyed bowling and horseshoes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert B. Willoughby Jr. of Pennsylvania, Michael Willoughby and his fiancée Karen Carver of Southborough, Doreen W. Patulak of Auburn, Kevin Willoughby of Martha's Vineyard, and Edward Willoughby and his wife Debi of Uxbridge; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Richard Willoughby, who died in 1985.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street, Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
