Hudson – Joseph A. Byra, 65, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at Marlborough Hospital.

Mr. Byra had been employed as a systems analyst at TJX Corp. Framingham for 44 yrs. prior to his retirement in 2000. He had the distinction of being the longest tenured employed at the corporation's home headquarters.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph M. and Mary (Conti) Byra of Marlborough and the husband of Ilona (Churma) Byra, of Hudson, to whom he had been married for the past 37 years.

After graduating from Marlborough High School, he earned a BA degree in Political Science from Northeastern University. He was a longtime member of Stow Acres Country Club, an accomplished golfer, and supporter of New England's athletic teams.

Besides his wife and his parents, he is survived by his son, Nick Byra of Hudson; his daughter, Samantha Byra of Charlestown; his aunt, Barbara “Mickey” Grasso of Marlborough; his mother-in-law, Erika Churma of Shelton, Conn.; his brother-in-law, Joseph Churma of Litchfield, Conn.; and many cousins.

Visiting hrs will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery on Wilson Street in Marlborough
