Friendship and flapjacks

Shrewsbury – Motorists traveling along Main Street in Shrewsbury on recent Friday mornings might have been curious to see a group of young men congregating on the front lawn of a house not far from St. John's High School. If they looked closer at the group, who enthusiastically wave to commuters going by, they would have also seen several of them enjoying pancakes that were cooked on a nearby grill.

“Free Pancake Friday” is held at the home of St. John's senior Ryan Strzepa, as a way for the senior class to celebrate the waning days of high school, the young men said. (The event was held on Thursday this week due to no school on Good Friday.)

“We only have about 20 or so days left, so we just wanted to do something fun to bring the class together,” Griffin Monahan, who was manning the grill, said. “It's all innocent fun – it's all about friendship.”
