The Mothers of Freedom historic walk May 13 in BostonBoston – Sunday, May 13, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., celebrate Mother's Day by joining National Park Service rangers from Boston African American National Historic Site on a free Beacon Hill walking tour that highlights the vital role of African American women and their allies in the struggle for social justice and equality in the years preceding the Civil War. The tour will examine the critical role that these women played on the Underground Railroad and in the Abolition Movement, and highlight their contributions to education and community aid and uplift.

Tours begin and end in front of the Museum of African American History's African Meeting House on Smith Court on Beacon Hill, and last 60 minutes. They are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
