Harold E. Rouse, 84Hudson – Harold E. Rouse, 84, a lifetime resident of Hudson, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence in Worcester.

Harold leaves his wife and best friend of 63 years, Betty (Campbell) Rouse; two daughters, Suzanne Lovejoy and her husband Steven Lovejoy of Holden, with whom he and Betty lived the past ten months, and Joanne Lively and her husband William Lively of Hudson; one son, James E. Rouse and his wife Beth Rouse of Shrewsbury; one brother, Howard C. Rouse Jr. of Framingham; one sister-in-law, Lee Rouse of Hudson; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John Rouse and Richard Rouse.

Harold was born in Hudson, the son of Howard C. and Ethel M. (Sanville) Rouse. He graduated from Hudson High School as President of the Class of 1946, and was a World War II era veteran and served in the Army of Occupation in Germany from 1946 to 1948. Harold worked as a meat cutter and meat department manager for the Stop & Shop Company for over forty years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Doric Lodge of Masons for over fifty years and the First Federated Church of Hudson.

Harold and Betty enjoyed twelve wonderful summers with many friends at Camp Eaton in York, ME following their retirement. Harold was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who treasured spending his free time with family, especially the love of his life, Betty.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, from the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the First Federated Church, 200 Central St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold's name to the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, 1183 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603.
