Marlborough – The Marlborough Fire Department released this statement this afternoon:
The Marlborough Fire Department while responding to an Incident on Robin Drive came across a fire in the rear of 276 Main Street; The McDonald Hotel.? The fire at 1012 hrs was contained to the basement and the first floor of the four story building constructed in the late 1800's.? The two alarm fire brought both the Hudson and Southborough Fire Departments to the scene and was brought under control within an hour.? No injuries were sustained, at this time the building is being assessed by local public officials to determine if the sixty residents will be allowed back in their units tonight.? The building occupants are being assisted by Marlborough Emergency Management and the Red Cross.
The fire is being investigated by the Marlborough Fire Department and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.? The cause is still under investigation with an estimated dollar loss of $60,000.00
