Marlborough – Carmela A. (Bottari) Tummino, 84, died early Sunday morning, May 19, 2013 after a long period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Tummino, who died in 2011. They were married for 50 years.

She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Foti) Bottari, and moved to Marlborough in 1998 after spending many years in Revere.

Prior to getting married, Mrs. Tummino worked as a dressmaker on Newbury Street in Boston, and after raising her family went back to work as a dressmaker and worked in the industry for many years. She, along with her husband, were longtime parishioners of Saint Anthony's Church in Revere and Saint Matthias Church in Marlborough.

She is survived by four sons, Anthony Tummino of Hudson, Michael Tummino of Maynard, Peter Tummino of PA, and John Tummino of Rowley; two brothers, Frank Bottari of Waltham and John Bottari of Wakefield; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Joanne Green, who died in 1997.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, May 23, at 10 a.m., in Saint Matthias Church, Hemenway Street in Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough, will be held Wednesday, May 22, from 5 to 8 p.m.
