Shrewsbury – Summer is nearly here and the Shrewsbury Health and Racquet Club (SHARC) has been busy organizing a full repertoire of events for the months ahead.
The heated, outdoor pool is now open, complete with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and plenty of space to enjoy hot, sunny days. Poolside barbecues, games, contests, massages and manicures are just some of the events the club will be offering this summer.
For children 4 to 18 years old, there are half, full and extended day options for summer camps. Kids will enjoy swimming in the indoor and outdoor pools, swim lessons, tennis lessons and sports conditioning and personal training. Other special events include the popular Cannonball contest, a Poolside Scavenger Hunt and Princess and Pirate Day. Kids” Night Out will be held each Saturday evening throughout the summer featuring a full slate of games and crafts. SHARC also offers Kids Club Child Care.
Every Friday night during the summer starting June 14 adults will be able to enjoy “SHARC After Dark.” The night will feature live local bands, line dancing classes, Bollywood dance sessions, and special fun events like “”80s Night.”
The outdoor pool will be open each day during the summer from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And if the weather turns stormy (as it is apt to do in New England) patrons can enjoy SHARC's indoor pool. (The indoor pool is open year-round for lap swimmers.)
In addition to the outdoor pool, SHARC offers tennis and racquetball courts, cardio and weight rooms, and group exercise classes.
From June 21 to 28, local students swim free with a report cards in the “Too Cool for School” program. Students” report cards give them one-day free admission from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Guests are $6 and 50 percent of guest fees are donated to the “Celebration in the Garden,” benefitting the Shrewsbury Public Schools Foundation.
