Northborough – Aaron Hutchins has announced that he will not run for a second term this spring on the Board of Selectmen.
Hutchins, who is an attorney, said in a press release that when he was elected to the board in 2011, he had “made it clear to the voters and the administration” he would only serve a maximum of two terms. However, a number of reasons led him to decide not to run for a second term, he said, including his beliefs that “Northborough is fiscally sound and that it's established policies are correct.”
Hutchins also noted that he feels that recent decisions made by the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals have been shown to have more impact on the town than those of the Board of Selectmen.
“If I desired further elected or appointed service in the town, it seems evident that those boards would provide me with a better forum for making a contribution,” he added.
And it was not time spent as a selectman that was time consuming, he noted; but rather the time necessary to act a liaison to nine different subcommittees.
Hutchins said he was also “disappointed” that he had never held one of the three offices rotated among the board members during his term.
