Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Crossings, 311 Main St. will be holding an American flag fundraiser every Saturday in May and June up until Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Members of the public can bring in their old flags and purchase a new, American-made flag for $22.50.

Proceeds from the sale of flags will go to the Shrewsbury Veterans Council Memorial Day Fund. The council, which represents the members of Shrewsbury's three veterans” organizations – ?Victor Quaranta Post 397, Ray Stone Post and Shrewsbury Veterans of Foreign Wars – will also manage the proper disposal of retired flags at their annual flag burning ceremony.

“We greatly appreciate the support our community has shown our veterans buying flags last year to support the WWI War Memorial,” committee member Norman Vandal said. “The American flag fundraiser put together by Shrewsbury Crossings is a wonderful way to support our Memorial Day services as we reflect and remember the dedicated veterans that have served us so well.”

“Shrewsbury Crossings is a proud supporter of the local community. We are glad to support the wonderful Memorial Day service that we enjoy bringing our residents, particularly our many veteran residents,” said Kelly Marcimo, director of community relations.

Shrewsbury Crossings offers assisted living and the Harbor Program of care for those with Alzheimer's disease and other memory impairments.
