Northborough – The Board of Selectmen reorganized at the start of its May 19 meeting, it's first since the May 12 town election saw Jason Perrerault elected to the board for the first time.
Dawn Rand, who won re-election, was named chairman of the board, replacing Leslie Rutan, who will serve as clerk. Jeff Amberson was elected to serve as vice chairman for the next year.
Perreault, a longtime member of the Appropriations Committee, said he had received extensive advice and guidance from current and past board members as he ran for the seat. He replaces Aaron Hutchins, who chose not to run again after serving a single term.
Perrault also said he was “elated” that voters supported the $25 million renovation of the Lincoln Street Elementary School by an “overwhelming” margin, noting that both he and Rutan had served on a committee that called for the repairs in the late 1990s.
“We never thought it would take 14 years,” he said.
