SH Lake Q boat parade 6Shrewsbury – On a beautiful summer Saturday, Aug. 30, 18 boats took to the waters of Lake Quinsigamond for a Boat Parade. The entrants were instructed to decorate their boats using the theme of “Favorite Movie.”

The event was hosted by the Lake Quinsigamond Watershed Association (LQWA) and started and ended at the Donahue Rowing Center.

First place went to the boat with the theme “Finding Nemo.” On that boat was Tony and Lisa Troio; Lisa's sister Laura, Lisa and Tony's daughter Angelina, and her friends Barbara and Phoebe Forgues.

Second place went to the Cronin family whose boat was decorated with the theme of “Batman.”

The Willy Wonka and the Golden Ticket boat with Pam and Mike Flynn and their children came in third.

Judging the event was State Sen. Michael Moore, D-Millbury, Angela Snell, director, Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department, and Stephanie Wood, chair of the Lake Quinsigamond Commission.

Sponsors for the event included Doug Russell Marine, Shore Side Docks and Madulka's Ice Cream.

The non-profit, volunteer-based LQWA advocates for issues related to preserving and maintaining the environmental and recreational quality of the four- mile lake. For more information visit www.lqwa.org.D N SH Lake Q boat parade 8 SH Lake Q boat parade 7? B G W B A
