Region – Local singers received 2014 Vocal Talent Awards by Opera Worcester, Inc. The Opera Worcester Award was presented to Nathan Kessel, a graduate of Shrewsbury High School who is attending the Eastman School of Music. The Nicole Boulanger Award was given to Russell Holbert, a graduate of Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School and attending Carnegie-Mellon University. Two Special Merit awards were presented to Anastasia Sereda of Natick and Anthony Sharp of Pennsylvania.
Opera Worcester, Inc. is offers annual scholarships to students entering an accredited music program with a major in voice or theater arts, with emphasis in voice training, and enrolled in a program leading to a degree or diploma. High school seniors or undergraduate college students planning a major in vocal or theater arts are eligible. Auditions will be held in the spring. For more information, visit operaworcester.org.
